1. Adult operation and consent

The intended operator is a parent, guardian, or adult authorized by a guardian. The adult confirms this before generation and reviews every page before a completed book can enter reading mode.

This confirmation is a product safety control. PrepTale does not ask a child to create an account or provide consent. If the adult does not agree to the processing described in this notice, they should not start generation.

2. Information used for a request

• A non-legal child nickname and an age from 2 through 8.
• Answers to three to five situation questions, including any short custom answer.
• Optional family nicknames for recurring adults.
• A selected Girl, Boy, or Gender-neutral visual presentation and fictional preset character.
• A temporary in-memory session identifier used for abuse prevention during the current app session; it is not reused across later sessions.

PrepTale does not request contacts, location, advertising identifiers, microphone access, health permissions, or a child account.

3. AI processing and service providers

The PrepTale generation gateway briefly receives the form to complete the current request. It does not create a child profile or intentionally log story text.

AI requests are sent directly to xAI. The story service receives the situation, an age band, anonymous answer codes, the selected visual presentation, a fictional preset description, generic name placeholders, private custom-answer placeholders, and anonymous illustration directions. It does not receive family nicknames, the custom-answer text itself, or an ethnicity label for the child. A valid personalized draft must preserve every custom-answer placeholder before PrepTale replaces it locally.

The illustration provider receives a fictional preset portrait or generated fictional reference plus anonymous page directions. After the adult reviews the book, the narration provider receives the exact visible read-aloud text for one page at a time. That text can include the non-legal child nickname, optional family nicknames, comfort choice, and any short custom answer the adult kept on that page. Before AI rewrite or final media, the app and gateway check edited copy again for urgent safety language and high-confidence direct identifiers such as email addresses, phone numbers, web links, street addresses, exact dates, and medical or school record numbers. This is a backstop, not permission to enter identifying details.

Story requests set store: false. Illustration and narration requests use xAI's dedicated Imagine and text-to-speech APIs. Under xAI's Enterprise Terms, API user content is ordinarily deleted no later than 30 days after the interaction, except where a longer period is agreed or required for legal, safety, security, compliance, moderation, or abuse-prevention purposes. xAI states that it does not use API user content to train foundation models. Provider processing is also governed by xAI's Data Processing Addendum. PrepTale does not authorize providers to use request content for advertising or user profiling.

4. Purchases

Apple processes App Store purchases and payment-card details. PrepTale verifies Apple-signed app and in-app purchase transactions, then stores only hashed app-transaction and purchase-transaction identifiers, a random App Account Token, the StoreKit environment, book-credit counts, and the minimum reservation and media-completion records needed to prevent duplicate charges and release failed generations. The entitlement ledger does not contain a child's nickname, answers, story text, illustrations, or narration.

5. Storage and deletion

Parent-approved text, pictures, and narration are stored in the app's local storage on the current device. PrepTale also keeps at most one unfinished recovery draft on that device, including media that has already finished, so an interruption does not force the parent to start over.

The recovery draft does not store the temporary session identifier. If the draft was created by the personalized story service, it may include an expiring proof bound to that anonymous paid-app account and story. The proof cannot be used for another account or story; after expiry it is ignored and removed the next time the draft is loaded or saved.

There is no cross-device child profile. The recovery draft is removed after the book is completed, when the parent taps Discard or Clear all, or when the app is removed. A parent can also delete an individual finished story. Deletion cannot be undone.

Anonymous purchase, credit, and delivery records are retained only as long as needed to deliver paid credits, prevent duplicate redemption or charges, resolve support or refund issues, and meet applicable accounting or legal obligations. Records no longer needed for those purposes are deleted or de-identified.

6. What PrepTale does not do

• No sale of family information, behavioral advertising, or cross-app tracking.
• No third-party analytics SDK at launch.
• No child photo, voice recording, public profile, chat, community, or cloud story library.
• No medical, mental-health, or education diagnosis based on story content.

7. Parent choices

A parent can stop before generation, edit every page, resume or discard the current unfinished book, retry missing media without accepting a low-quality substitute, and delete all locally stored content.

For a privacy question or a request concerning server-side records, email lemontang24@outlook.com. Include only the minimum information needed to locate the transaction or request. Do not send a child's legal name, school, address, medical record, story text, picture, or narration file. Because finished books are stored locally and PrepTale has no user account, support normally cannot access or delete a book stored only on the device.

8. Changes to this notice

PrepTale may update this notice when its features, providers, or legal obligations change. The effective date above will be revised, and any additional notice or consent required by applicable law will be provided before a materially different use of information begins.
